A native of northern CA, Tristan Clarridge began playing fiddle at the age of two, going on to win 5 Grand National Fiddle Championships.

Now residing in Boston, Tristan is one of a handful of cellists exploring new groove-based cello territory, drawing on an amalgamation of contemporary and traditional folk music styles. He currently tours internationally with folk/bluegrass sensation Crooked Still, and with his sister Tashina in the band The Bee Eaters. Grammy winning bassist Edgar Meyer says of The Bee Eaters, “It is a joy to hear both the exploration of this music and the grounding of it simultaneously. Also, I love the emphasis on the simple beauty of the acoustic instruments.” Their debut album, produced by Darol Anger, was released in 2009.

Tristan has also toured with Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings, Mike Marshall, Bruce Molsky, and Cape Breton fiddle phenomenon Natalie MacMaster.
